What Forney voters will be deciding with the Rec Center & Library Election:

A plan shaped by our community.

The proposed recreation center and library were developed following input from Forney residents about the facilities, programs and services they would like to see available in their community. That feedback helped city leaders develop a plan for voter consideration.

YMCA recreation, fitness & wellness opportunities for residents of all ages.

The proposed recreation center - managed by the YMCA - could provide indoor space for a variety of recreational, fitness and wellness activities. Potential uses could include senior water aerobics, youth and adult sports, exercise classes, fitness programs, wellness activities, aquatics, and other programs requested by our community.

Dedicated space for youth, families, adults & seniors to gather and participate.

The proposed facility would create additional space for organized activities, classes, events and community programs. Youth, families, adults and seniors could use the center for recreation, group activities, social programs, special events and other opportunities to participate and connect with others in the community.

Police mentoring programs for at-risk children & teens.

The proposed recreation center could provide space for mentoring programs involving police officers and other community partners. These initiatives could give children the opportunity to participate in organized activities and leadership and life skills programs, and connect with additional community resources requested by our residents.

A library for reading, learning, technology & educational programs.

The proposed facility could provide space for traditional library services along with technology, educational resources and community programming. Residents could have access to books and reading materials, computers, research resources, literacy programs, educational classes, study areas and other learning opportunities.

Flexible community spaces for children, teens, adults & seniors.

The proposed library would include flexible spaces that could support programs and activities for residents of different ages. These areas could be used for children’s literacy activities, teen programs, adult education, senior activities, workshops, study groups, meetings and other community-based programs.
