“The proposed recreation center would provide space that could support youth recreation, camps, after-school activities, mentoring and other organized programs. If the City partners with organizations such as the YMCA or other community providers, those partnerships could expand the types of programs available to Forney families.

• Space could be available for organized youth recreation and supervised activities.

• Youth mentoring and leadership programs could connect young people with positive adult role models.

• After-school, camp and wellness programs could provide additional structured activities for children and teens.

• Partnerships with community organizations could allow programs to be developed around local needs and available resources.

The specific programs and partnerships have not yet been finalized. If the referendum is approved, those details would be developed through the City’s implementation and programming process and would rely heavily on input from parents and Forney ISD.”
