2026 Forney Rec Center & Library Election.

An important message from Mayor Jason Roberson:

“Proposition A gives Forney voters the opportunity to decide whether to fund a new public library with space for education, technology, and reading, along with a YMCA-managed recreation center offering fitness programs, youth and senior activities, and community events. The impact for taxpayers of the $49.5 million project, funded by general obligation bonds repaid with property taxes, is estimated to be approximately 8¢ per $100 of taxable value.

This website is designed to provide you with factual information about the proposal, potential tax impact, facilities and programs being considered, and dates when you can vote. I encourage every resident to review the facts and make an informed decision.”

What the $49.5 million Forney Rec Center & Library Election would provide, if approved by voters:

YMCA recreation, fitness & wellness opportunities for residents.

Dedicated space for youth, families, adults & seniors.

Space for mentoring programs for children & teens.

A library for reading, learning, technology & educational programs.

For the recreation center, voter-approved bonds would fund the facility, not the internal programs. The YMCA, community partners, grants, and other available funding sources would support program costs, not bond funds. For the library, the bonds would fund the facility, while general revenue would pay for day-to-day operations and programs.
